  • Notes
    • BIRTH:
Full date given as 7 January 1743 in baptismal record for Honor? Sellier in the parish records of Anse-Bertrand, Guadeloupe, 1743, page 1, right side, second entry. Parents named as Honor? Sellier and Genevieve Elizabeth Desbonnes. Recordlable at http://anom.archivesnationales.culture.gouv.fr/caomec2/osd.php?territoire=GUADELOUPE&commune=ANSE-BERTRAND&annee=1743.

      CHRISTENING:
Full date given as 27 January 1743 in baptismal record for Honor? Sellier in the parish records of Anse-Bertrand, Guadeloupe, 1743, page 1, right side, second entry. Witnesses--Jean Guery and Marie Francoise Desbonnes. Record available at://anom.archivesnationales.culture.gouv.fr/caomec2/osd.php?territoire=GUADELOUPE&commune=ANSE-BERTRAND&annee=1743.

      MARRIAGE:
Wife of Honor? Sellier fils named as Marguerite Desbonnes in the 1769 baptismal record of their son Honor? Philippe in the records of Anse-Bertrand, Guadeloupe.

      RESIDENCE:
      - Was likely living with his father in Cariacou, Grenada, up to 1764.
      - Numerous church records of him in Anse-Bertrand, Guadeloupe from 1765-1769.
      - Missing from the parish register of Anse-Bertrand from 1769-1776, and church records show him living in Sainte-Rose, Guadeloupe during this time.
      - His daughter Marie Adelaide Philipe Sellier is listed as the proprietor of "St. Margarett" estate in Mayaro, Trinidad in the 1813 Plantation Slaves Register, a cotton plantation with 21 enslaved workers. It seems clear that she must have inherited this plantation from her father, so he must have died before the date of this return, 27 March 1813.
      - Widow "Margrite Desbonne Veuve Sellier" listed as living in San Juan parish, Trinidad and Tobago, in her return for the 1819 Register of Personal Slaves, folio 1599, last entry. This is consistent with the conclusion from the 1813 Plantation Slaves Register for his daughter that Honor? Sellier was a landowner in Mayaro in Trinidad prior to 1813.

      DEATH:
As his wife is described as a widow in her 1819 return for the Register of Slaves, he must have died before this time, and likely in Trinidad and Tobago.
